Find My iPhone unable to locate lost iPhone 6S (it’s not even showing up as “Offline” – it’s just not loading it at all.) Calling to the phone go straight to “The caller you are trying to reach is not accepting calls at this time.” Has this phone been sealed in a lead box or something!?
I did a quick scan of the rules and didn't see any restrictions on this kind of post, so I hope I'm not breaking any rules with this.
My friend went to the bathroom at the mall and accidentally left her iPhone 6S that's on AT&T in the stall.
An hour later after lunch, she realized she didn't have her phone. We went to the info desk and then the security office to see if any phones had been turned in. No dice.
I called the phone, which rang a few times then went to voicemail. Calling it a second time went straight to "The caller you are trying to reach is not accepting calls at this time." I've tried using three other phones to call the missing phone, and all of them get the same result.
According to my friend, the phone was at 60% battery, so it did not run out of batteries. Furthermore, she says that Find My iPhone will usually display the phone as "Offline" if it's been turned off. When it's unable to be located at all, that means it has no cell service at all. Idk if that's true or not. For what it's worth, her iPad and MacBook are both showing up, so it doesn't seem to be an iCloud account issue
My friend had a ten digit password securing her phone. However, she has also removed her credit cards from all of her apps as a precautionary measure, using another friend's iPhone.
So what's going on here? Is it possible that someone stole her phone and put it in an x-ray proof / RFID proof bag? I find it hard to believe it's been taken to a deep, dark recess of the mall parking garage or that someone has a lead lined safe in their trunk. However, I'm an Android user so I'm not super sure how all Find My iPhone works exactly.
Aaaaaand to make matters worse we're on a coach bus headed on a ten hour school trip, so all we could do is leave our contact information at the security booth. No time to file a police report or hunt around the mall further.
Anyways, thanks in advance for any help y'all can offer. And hold onto your valuables!
EDIT: Phone was found by another guest and turned in! Guard did not give many details, but it's a relief that it's been located. Thanks for everyone's help! We're picking it up in a couple days on our return trip and will figure out what happened then.
