[EVENT] Chain of Pearls | Indian Ocean Basing

As part of the Tenasserim Federation's commitment to uphold security and stability within the Indian Ocean Rim, the Royal Tenasserim Armed Forces have been charged with maintaining a permanent presence in the region.

This entails the continuation of the so-called "Chain of Pearls" scheme (called such because the Ministry of War steadfastly refuses to call it a 'pearl necklace') of basing around the Indian Ocean, including the establishment of RTAF bases within the Island Federation.

RTAF Station Anjouan

To be established on the northwestern end of the island of Anjouan, Comoros, capable of supporting a Brigade Group-sized contingent and to be garrisoned by a battalion group during peacetime. This will entail the construction of an airfield to service the town of Sima that can support multiple squadrons of fighter, transport, maritime patrol, and/or rotary-wing search-and-rescue aircraft.

A naval base will be established on the northern coast of Anjouan (minimising ecological disruption) with sufficient berths for up to seven destroyer-sized vessels.

This will also include an investment package of $2.5 billion over three years to help expand and modernise transportation and communications infrastructure on Anjouan, including the expansion of the road system and a revitalisation of the island's Ouani Airport.

RTAF Station Anjouan will be ready for operations by late 2043, with approximately $750 million being budgeted for its construction.

RTAF Station Grande Anse

To be established on the island of Praslin, Seychelles, capable of supporting a Brigade Group-sized contingent and to be garrisoned by a battalion group during peacetime. This will entail the expansion and modernisation of Praslin Island Airport that can support multiple squadrons of fighter, transport, maritime patrol, and/or rotary-wing search-and-rescue aircraft.

A naval base will be established on the island of Cousine just off the southern shore of Praslin to minimise ecological disruption, with sufficient berths for up to fifteen naval vessels. Logistics will be handled by smaller ferries/supply boats making shuttle runs between Cousine and Praslin, preventing damage to the island's coastal ecosystem from larger vessels.

This will also include an investment package of $3.6 billion over four years to help expand and modernise transportation and communications infrastructure on Praslin as well as provide a more reliable communications link between Praslin and Mahé.

RTAF Station Grande Anse will be fully operational by 2044, with approximately $1.5 billion being budgeted.
